Alamance Battleground Walking Trail
The walking trail has a fascinating history that began as an Eagle Scout Project in the 1990s. After facing the challenges of several hurricanes, it was temporarily closed due to damage. However, in 2008, dedicated efforts brought it back to life, and it reopened to the public!
Rated as an “Easy” trail, this path is perfect for everyone—whether you’re a curious child or a seasoned adventurer. Come enjoy a leisurely stroll in the great outdoors, where history and nature come together in a welcoming environment!
Alamance Battleground Memorial Trail
The Alamance Battleground Memorial Trail invites you to explore its serene beauty, officially opened on October 2, 2021. Rated as an “Easy” trail, it’s perfect for families, including children and seniors.
As you arrive at the entrance, located at the far end of the Memorial Garden closest to Highway 62, you’ll be greeted by two striking silhouettes—a Regulator and a Militiaman—standing watch over your journey. A wayside marker introduces you to the trail, setting the stage for what lies ahead.
Stroll through the garden as the trail gently leads you to the Memorial Kiosk, where over forty memorials honor those who have shaped our history since the trail's opening. After your walk, be sure to visit the Visitor Center and peruse the Book of Remembrance, which provides insightful details about each person commemorated here.
Come enjoy a peaceful walk while connecting with the rich history of Alamance Battleground!
