Joseph Maddock’s mill, just outside of Hillsborough on the Eno River, was proposed as the meeting place for the Sandy Creek delegates in 1766. Orange County assemblymen, county officials, and vestrymen would be requested to meet with the people’s representatives on October 10, so it would not interfere with their attendance in the assembly.
